Former Prime Minister Omar Karami voiced on Thursday his confidence that the Syrian leadership and people will overcome the current crisis Syria is going through.
He warned after holding talks in Damascus with Syrian President Bashar Assad of attempts to “fragment the region.”
Minister of Youth and Sports, Faisal Karami, the former PM’s son also attended the meeting.
The former premier also warned that attempts to fragment the region and create strife will have dangerous repercussions on the Middle East.
Syria has been witnessing anti-regime protests since March.
According to the United Nations, some 2,700 people have been killed in the regime’s crackdown against the protestors.
The regime has meanwhile blamed “armed gangs” for the unrest.
