Report: Turkish Jets Bombed IS Targets Up to 14Km inside Syria

Turkish warplanes earlier Friday bombed three targets controlled by Islamic State (IS) jihadists up to 14 kilometers inside Syrian territory, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

Citing an official statement, it said that a three-story building used as a meeting place for IS jihadists in the El Tabiye area was hit 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) inside Syrian territory from the Turkish border.

A headquarters used by IS jihadists was hit in the El Zahiriye district 11.5 kilometers (7 miles) inside the border. A similar building was struck in the Burgi region, 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) inside the border, it added.

It said a Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guidance system was used to help the bombs to find their targets.

Turkish media reports have said that the Turkish jets did not enter Syrian airspace but fired the charges from over Turkish airspace.

Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said earlier that the strikes were "100 percent" successful and had totally eliminated their targets.
