Report: Israeli Forces Foil Attacks Schemed by Nasrallah's Son

The Shin Bet said on Wednesday that Israeli forces thwarted a shooting attack in the Tulkarm area of the northern West Bank led by Palestinian Mahmoud Zaaloul who was directed by the son of Hizbullah leader Jawad Nasrallah, Israeli media reports stated.

Forces "apprehended a terror cell funded and guided by Hizbullah," an Israeli army statement said, adding the cell was "plotting a shooting attack".

The reports said that Nasrallah used the social networks to recruit the leader of the seven-person cell Zaaloul who is a resident of Tulkarm.

The cell was directed by Hizbullah to carry out terror attacks using explosive belts, train suicide bombers and to collect information about the movements of Israeli security forces in the area, according to the Shin Bet.

It added that Hizbullah has transferred $5,000 to the cell for the purpose of committing the attacks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later said: "Hizbullah is trying to exploit the situation in the West Bank to recruit Palestinians to carry out attacks against Israeli positions."

On Monday, Israel’s military chief of staff, in a rare public speech, said that Hizbullah was his country's biggest threat.

Hizbullah and Israel scuffle intermittently in the disputed border area between Lebanon and the Jewish state, and the group has in the past targeted army patrols in response to strikes against its members.
