After reports that head of the Strong Lebanon bloc Jebran Bassil was trying to “induce” Jawad Adra into his own bloc, the Consultative Gathering MPs are therefore mulling to make Adra “sign an agreement” that he will exclusively represent them in the new government, media reports said.
Al-Akhbar daily said the Free Patriotic Movement chief Jebran Bassil attempts to “induce” Adra --a nominee to represent the Consultative Gathering MPs in the new government--into his Strong Lebanon bloc.
Al-Joumhouria daily said the Gathering is expecting Adra to make a “crucial, clear answer” on Saturday, that he will “exclusively represent them in the new government.”
The Gathering’s circles said an “idea matured Friday evening, stating that if Adra accepts to represent them, he must do this in a written agreement to be signed by him and the Gathering.”
After long consultations, the Consultative Gathering MPs met on Friday, and agreed on the controversial nomination of Jawad Adra as one of four figures to be named and presented to President Michel Aoun to choose from.
Reports have earlier said that MP Qassem Hashem, of said Gathering, had suggested the name of Adra in a closed envelope he gave to the General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim who was mediating an initiative to end the so-called Sunni MPs hurdle.
The other MPs from the Gathering had suggested three names including Hassan Mrad, Othman Majzoub and Taha Naji.
