The former army commander Jean Qahwaji came Friday to the Palace of Justice in Beirut to appear before the judicial investigator Judge Tarek al-Bitar over the Beirut Port blast case.
The session was not held due to the lawyers' strike, and was postponed to Monday, August 2.
Qahwaji’s counsel confirmed to TV networks that “the strike of the lawyers is affecting all files.”
He stressed that Qahwaji’s attendance at the Palace of Justice is a proof that he is not “afraid of the investigation” and that he is not “hiding anything.”
“Qahwaji has many things to present to the judicial investigator,” the lawyer added.
Qahwaji was among several politicians and current and former security officials who were recently summoned by Bitar for interrogation in the Port blast case.
