The Israeli military said Friday that a strike in south Beirut the day before killed Mohammed Skafi, the head of Hezbollah’s communications division.
The military said in a statement that Skafi was “a senior Hezbollah terrorist who was responsible for the communications unit since 2000” and was “closely affiliated” with high-up Hezbollah officials.
The Israeli military had earlier said it had killed a senior Hezbollah militant involved in the group’s development of precision guided missiles.
It said Mohammed Anisi was killed in a recent airstrike that targeted the militant group’s intelligence branch in south Beirut.
Hezbollah has not commented on the Israeli military’s claim. If it is true, it would mark the latest in a string of assassinations of top Hezbollah officials in recent weeks, including its longtime leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
