Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Wednesday disputed Speaker Nabih Berri’s announcement that Hezbollah “has fully committed to the stipulations of the ceasefire agreement” with Israel.
“This statement is totally untrue,” Geagea said, noting that the agreement’s clauses, especially its preamble, calls for the dissolution of all illegitimate armed groups.
“As for your statement that the Lebanese Army has deployed more than 9,000 officers and soldiers in the South Litani area, this is true but incomplete, seeing as Hezbollah’s fighters are still present south of the Litani,” Geagea added.
“If it’s true that Hezbollah played the role of a resistance at some very distant times, at all the other times it played the role of a faction belonging to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard and serving the interests of the Iranian state, at the expense of thousands and thousands of Lebanese martyrs and at the expense of the Lebanese state and all Lebanese,” the LF leader said.
