Hezbollah says targeted Israeli military site in fourth attack today

Hezbollah announced it targeted a military facility in Israel in its fourth attack on Tuesday, as Israel continued to strike Lebanon including the capital Beirut.

The group said in a statement it had targeted the Maayan Baruch site in northern Israel with rockets, "in response to the criminal Israeli aggression that struck dozens of Lebanese cities and towns, including Beirut's southern suburbs".

The latest round of fighting between Hezbollah and Israel started early Monday when Hezbollah launched rockets towards Israel in retaliation for the killing of Iranian supreme leader Ali Khamenei in U.S.-Israeli attacks on Saturday.

A series of airstrikes on Tuesday afternoon hit Beirut's southern suburbs, an area where Hezbollah holds sway, without prior warning, while the Israeli army announced it had targeted "several Hezbollah terrorists".

Lebanon's state news agency said "a new series of intense Israeli air raids" targeted the suburb and caused "extensive damage to buildings". A live broadcast by AFP showed plumes of smoke rising from the area.
