Prime Minister Nawaf Salam commented Tuesday on the resumption of Israeli-Lebanese negotiations in Washington by saying that "what remains is to consolidate a ceasefire throughout Lebanon."
His remarks come a day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to de-escalate their attacks.
"I reiterate that negotiations are the least costly option for Lebanon and the Lebanese. Our path to ending the occupation and the return of our people in the south to their cities and villages will be shorter whenever all efforts are united under the umbrella of the state," Salam added.
