Israel says Hezbollah 'continuing to use force in security zone'
An Israeli military source on Monday criticized the Lebanese Army’s performance in the so-called pilot zones in south Lebanon, noting that “it has not entered private property” there and that its search operations are “partial.”
“The Lebanese Army has operational control over the pilot zones without fully cleansing them” of Hezbollah’s presence, the source claimed, in remarks to Al-Arabiya’s Al-Hadath channel.
The source added that the Ali al-Taher and Shaqif heights constitute a strategic area for the Israeli army, noting that the Israeli army is “committed to implementing the framework agreement and maintaining the ceasefire with Lebanon.”
“A return to normal life is only possible through Lebanon's effective implementation of the framework agreement,” the source went on to say.
“The Lebanese Army is responsible for clearing the pilot areas of any terrorist presence or infrastructure” and “Hezbollah is undermining the implementation of the framework agreement with Lebanon,” the source charged, accusing Hezbollah of “violating the ceasefire and continuing to use force within the security zone in southern Lebanon.”
“The framework agreement is necessary to prevent Iran from making decisions on behalf of the Lebanese state,” the Israeli source said.
“The framework agreement with Lebanon charts a path toward peace and stability through the disarmament of Hezbollah,” the source added.
