President Joseph Aoun on Wednesday warned that “there are attempts to politicize and exaggerate the economic situation for political ends.”
There is “talk about a rise in the U.S. dollar exchange rate and crises similar to what occurred in 2019 -- all aimed at creating confusion and marginalizing efforts to revive Lebanon, which is something that cannot be allowed," Aoun added.
He accordingly called for "cooperation in facing the economic crises from which the entire world is suffering," pointing to the measures being taken by the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance "to maintain monetary stability."
He also stressed that "decades of corruption and mismanagement cannot be erased in a short period, but work is underway to combat corruption, transit to digital governance, and improve the state of public administrations and official institutions."
