Hezbollah MPs warn of political 'explosion', slam US interference, 'subservient' state

Hezbollah MPs on Monday condemned American "interference" in Lebanese affairs and slammed the Lebanese authorities for being "subservient", "acquiescent", "irresponsible", and "foreign-dependent".

MP Ali Fayyad blamed the Lebanese authorities for "bringing the country to a point of dangerous internal tension," while MP Ibrahim al-Moussawi warned that "an explosion is on the brink." He said the ruling authority is pressuring and bullying Hezbollah's supporters. Fayyad warned that the state bears full responsibility for the consequences.

Moussawi also condemned American interference, stating that the United States imposes dictates that serve its own interests and Israel's interests. They are not a true state, he said. "They must admit that they are an incompetent, lost, failed, and corrupt authority that accepts nothing but dictates."

"For years on end, the ruling authority failed to protect the people, and we stepped up to defend all of Lebanon; we filled a vacuum with our sacrifices and steadfastness," Moussawi said.

The MPs' remarks came after U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio called President Joseph Aoun and pressed him not to return not return several hundred kilograms of explosives seized from Hezbollah, while also asking him to cancel a 1955 boycott law banning direct relations with Israel.

Fayyad said the state lacks independent, sovereign national decision-making and has given the enemy pretexts for its aggression and continued occupation of Lebanese territory.

Head of Hezbollah's parliamentary bloc Mohammad Raad said "attempts to demonize and defame" Hezbollah are a "national and moral crime", committed in compliance with the directives of the Americans "who are partners and supporters of Israel".

MPs Hussein Hajj Hassan and Hassan Ezzeddine also condemned "American dictates" and "blatant interference," stating that U.S. interests are Israel's interests and that the Lebanese authorities bear full responsibility for the repercussions of their actions.
