Foreign Minister Youssef Rajji met Tuesday with Irish Foreign and Defense Minister Helen McEntee and thanked her for “her country's role in the UNIFIL forces and the sacrifices made by its soldiers.”
“We agreed on the necessity of maintaining an international presence in the South, and we discussed the role that the European Union, whose presidency her country currently holds, can play,” Rajji said in a post on X.
“I expressed our fear of a new war that Hezbollah might be preparing for at the behest of Iran, and reiterated the necessity of Israel's withdrawal and the cessation of its attacks. I also pointed to the government's decisions regarding the restriction of arms and the banning of the party's military and security activities, and I stressed the role of the Lebanese Army and the importance of supporting it so that it can carry out its mission," the minister added.
