Speaker Nabih Berri held talks on Monday with Prime Minister Najib Miqati on various local developments.
Miqati said after the meeting at Ain el-Tineh: “We discussed everything, including the appointments file and the issue of the government’s extra-budgetary spending.”
The speaker later met with Energy Minister Jebran Bassil in the presence of his advisor Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil.
Berri then sent a cable of congratulations to Francois Hollande on his election as the new French president in which he highlighted the importance of Lebanese-French ties.
He also received a cable from Iranian Vice President Mohammed Reza Rahimi, who stressed the “fraternal ties between Lebanon and Iran.”
He hoped that his recent visit to Lebanon “would mark a new phase in developing ties between the two sides.”
Rahimi had paid a visit to Lebanon last week during which he met with a number of top officials.
