Report: Gunmen 'Brutally Murder' Guards, Janitor of Lebanon Ambassador in Damascus

Gunmen abducted two Syrian policemen, tasked with guarding the residence of Lebanese Ambassador to Damascus Michel al-Khoury, and the concierge and “brutally killed” them last week, As Safir newspaper reported on Tuesday.

According to the daily, the incident took place overnight Thursday.

Al-Khoury resides at a house in the Damascus Suburb of Yaafor, which is an area that most ambassadors reside in but became vacant after most of the Arab and foreign diplomats were withdrawn by their countries.

According to information obtained by As Safir, al-khoury and Lebanese charge d’affaires Rami Murtada are currently in Beirut and their return to Damascus depends on the results of the investigations.

However, Lebanese authorities remained mum over the incident.

“The incident is disturbing and Lebanon can’t deal with the issue randomly,” sources told the daily.
