An exchange of fire occurred on Tuesday between an Internal Security Forces unit in Beirut's southern suburb neighborhood of al-Lailaki, media reports said.
According to the National News Agency, gunmen from the Zoaiter family opened fire at an ISF patrol that seized four illegal vans and was moving them to detention, prompting them to respond.
A gunman and an ISF member were wounded in the exchange of fire.
The army intervened to control the situation after the Zoaiter family blocked al-Lailki road with burning tires.
The news agency said that the army is pursuing the gunmen.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) had reported earlier that an ISF checkpoint in the area opened fire at a van that failed to comply with orders to stop, wounding a member of the Zoaiter family in his leg, which prompted his family to open fire at the patrol.
