U.S. Governor Postpones Halloween in Wake of Storm

Abracadabra: Hurricane Sandy has done a lot of damage but won't be ruining Halloween in New Jersey, one of the hardest hit U.S. states.

That's thanks to Governor Chris Christie, who on Wednesday ordered the annual celebrations moved to next week in the wake of the powerful storm.

"It's just not safe yet to be out trick-or-treating tonight, so Halloween has officially been postponed until Monday," Christie tweeted.

Across the United States and beyond, youngsters feverishly await October 31 each year to dress up and go door to door asking for sweet goodies.

"I better see you all out there on Monday with your costumes on and candy in tow," the father of four added in a follow-up.

Christie, known for being a little rough around the edges and speaking his mind, toured some of his state's devastated coastline with President Barack Obama Wednesday afternoon.

The Republican has praised Obama for his handling of the crisis that has claimed the lives of more than 50 Americans.
