Unknown gunmen shot dead a police commander with counter-terrorism forces in the Yemeni capital on Wednesday, a security official said.
"Two gunmen on motorbikes shot dead the officer, Commander Mohammed Hussein al-Feel, before escaping," said the official.
Police and soldiers in Yemen frequently come under attack, often by gunmen on motorbikes, usually accused of links to the al-Qaida network which is most active in the country's south and east.
