Car Crash Kills Two, Injures Four on Sidon Highway

Two people were killed and at least four wounded when a Mercedes car, pickup truck and a van collided on the highway connecting the southern city of Sidon with the South early Friday.

The state-run National News Agency reported that a Toyota pickup truck, a Mercedes 500 collided with a van parked on the side of the road.

The news agency said that Lebanese army soldier Hassan Abdul Qader and Mahmoud Kawtharani were killed in the accident.

The NNA identified the names of the four injured people as Hassan Shaar, Ali Shouaib, Moustapha Habli and Rami Gharib, who were rushed to Labib Medical Center for treatment.

Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) said that Hadi Abdul Karim Ghandour was also injured in the accident.

However, VDL reported that the accident took place between a military vehicle and several cars.

A unit of military police arrived swiftly at the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.
