Arrest Warrant for Suspected Lebanese FSA Fighter

The military court issued on Wednesday an arrest warrant for a Lebanese accused of fighting alongside the rebel Free Syrian Army, the state-run National News Agency reported.

Military Examining Magistrate Imad al-Zain issued the warrant after questioning the man identified by his initials as S.M. from the area of Masharih al-Qaa in northeastern Lebanon.

S.M. is suspected of fighting alongside the rebels, smuggling arms and transferring wounded people across the border, NNA said.

The suspect is a member of the FSA's Bab Amro Brigade, the news agency reported. Security forces found photos of rebel fighters in his mobile phone.

Many among Lebanon's opposition have backed Syria's rebels. While Hizbullah and its allies have tended to back President Bashar Assad in the almost two-year conflict.

Both sides have traded accusations of sending fighters to Syria.
