Yahshoush Rock Slide Isolates Several Kesrouan Towns

A rock slide in the Kesrouan town of Yahshoush overnight Saturday has rendered several roads impassable and prompted the army to create alternative side roads.

"Neighborhoods in the town were isolated as the collapse of a part of the mountain cut off the road leading to several towns, two of which have no other routes," LBCI television reported.

Residents were crossing from one side to another with the assistance of municipality employees, army troops and civil defense crews.

Cars were waiting on the other side of the road to pick citizens up to their destinations, LBCI said.

Immediately after the rock slide, Yahshoush Municipality started helping citizens cross from an area into another and cooperated with the army in creating alternative routes.

A statement issued by the army said the rock slide cut off roads leading to the towns of Shawwan, al-Ibri, Hay al-Sreij, Hay al-Snoubar and Hay Moussa.

“An army patrol headed to the location and created a side road to enable citizens to cross on foot, while efforts are underway to reopen the blocked road with the appropriate engineering means,” the statement added.
