FIFA Applies Global Bans in Lebanon Fixing Case
FIFA has extended bans for 23 players and one official previously found guilty of match-fixing in Lebanon to apply worldwide.
FIFA said the case involved "betting and corruption committed by some Lebanese officials and players during certain official matches of the Lebanese national team and other matches."
It said one player was banned for life and the official received a lifetime ban from football work and entering any stadium. Other players were banned for three and two years, and the remaining 20 got one-year sanctions.
FIFA did not identify the players, but the Lebanon Football Association said in February that Ramez Dayoub, who also played for a club in Malaysia, was banned for life.
Dayoub was among six suspended players who represented Lebanon in its World Cup qualifying campaign.
