France Says Leaks Impede Search for Truth in Hariri Murder
France criticized leaked information in ex-Premier Rafik Hariri’s assassination case and urged the Lebanese cabinet to fully cooperate with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
French Foreign Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero said Thursday that his country was “informed” that the Lebanese authorities received a copy of the indictment.
The U.N.-backed Special Tribunal for Lebanon issued on Thursday its indictment in the February 14, 2005 assassination of ex-premier Rafik Hariri.
Valero criticized leaking the information concerning the content of the indictment.
“It doesn’t help in the search for the truth,” he stressed.
The Hague-based tribunal also handed Lebanese Prosecutor General Saeed Mirza arrest warrants for four Lebanese but did not disclose their identities.
Media reports said the four are allegedly Hizbullah members. They are Mustafa Badreddine, Salim Ayyash, Hassan Aneissy, known as Hassan Issa, and Assad Sabra.
