Egypt Gunman Kills 15 in Family Dispute

At least 15 people were killed Wednesday north of the Egyptian capital when an ex-convict went on a shooting spree, apparently over a family dispute, state media and judicial sources said.

Egypt's official news agency MENA said "15 people were killed when a dangerous criminal... opened fire randomly at passers-by."

The man, recently released from prison after serving time for his role in the deaths of 23 people, was reportedly seeking revenge over a family dispute. The attack took place in Mayt al-Atar village of Qalubiya province.

It comes amid fears of new lawlessness in Egypt, following deadly clashes between supporters of ousted Islamist President Mohammed Morsi and security forces.
