Lebanon Confiscates Asala Nasri's Passport over Syrian Arrest Warrant

Syrian singer Asala Nasri's passport was taken from her by Lebanese authorities on Wednesday due to an arrest warrant issued by the Syrian authorities in 2013 for “political reasons.”
Later on, State Prosecutor Judge Samir Hammoud decided, in accordance with Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi, to return Asala's passport and revoke “the search and investigation warrant” against her.
Meanwhile, Rifi said on Twitter: “We will return Asala's passport and we will not be tools in the hands of the Syrian regime to carry out politically motivated arrests.”
Earlier Wednesday, the National News Agency said the General Security at the Rafik Hariri International Airport confiscated Asala's passport after referring her to the public prosecution due to an “arrest warrant issued by the Interpol.”
MTV had said that Asala, who holds both Syrian and Egyptian nationalities, will be summoned next Monday to investigation by the Lebanese public prosecutor.
Asala had arrived in the afternoon to Beirut's airport, after she was invited to participate in a Star Academy episode.
This is not the first visit for her to Lebanon in the recent period.
Asala had voiced stances against the Syrian regime in the first year of the crisis that erupted in Syria.
She also criticized some Arab countries, including Lebanon, which prompted many reactions in the media and on social networks.

I must hand it to Abbas Ibrahim for following the Syrian regime orders and arresting the incredible Syrian singer Asaala today at Beirut Airport and for confiscating her passport. Asaala was visiting Beirut to be on the panel of Star Academy. Asaala has been critical of Assad and his criminal regime and as such is considered a dangerous takfiri terrorist and a security threat to Lebanon. I could not write this without thanking Brig. General Ibrahim for allowing thousands of Iraqi jihadi tourists to land at our airport and join their HA brothers in their fight against terrorism in Syria.

وأفادت معلومات صحافية ان النظام السوري كان رفع شكاوى ضد اصالة بتهم “الخيانة” و”اهانة الدولة”. يذكر ان اصالة عرفت بمواقفها المناهضة لنظام بشار الاسد الذي قتل مئات الالاف من شعبه ما عرضها لتهديدات شديدة.

On April 26 2005 so many Syrian Mukhabarat became unemployed and destitute they only knew how to do Mukhabart things.. then something amazing happened.. the syrian revolution.. and here their are again rehired by the Syrian regime to pose as Lebanese and post their hearts out on Naharnet in defense of it's hegemony just like they did during the thirty odd years of partial and full occupation of Lebanon.
