Report: Russia Seeks Nasrallah's Honest Stance on Syrian Crisis

Hizbullah chief Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah and Russian deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov discussed during the latter's visit to Lebanon earlier in December the ongoing conflict in Syria and the party's position on the matter, reported al-Akhbar newspaper on Thursday.

It said: “Despite the growing alliance between Moscow and Tehran and their backing of Damascus on the economic and military levels, Nasrallah has become a source of honest positions for Russia.”

“The Russians have resorted to Nasrallah because he is the man of resistance, not diplomacy, and he has accumulated a political resume heaped in high credibility,” added the daily.

“Nasrallah is also the common ally of Damascus and Tehran and Hizbullah is a main force in the fight against terror in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon, which makes the secretary general a significant partner in any possible political solution to the Syrian crisis,” reported al-Akhbar.

Nasrallah stressed during his December 5 talks with Bogdanov that “we are waging a battle against terrorism and in defense of Syria, its state, and strategic choices,” said the daily.

“At the same time, we are waging the battle of President Bashar Assad. There can be no solution without the president,” he added, while describing him as a “red line.”

Bogdanov had paid a visit to Lebanon in early December where he held talks with a number of senior officials on local and regional affairs.

Where is Lebanon in Nassrallah's speech: He is in Syria to defend Syria's president, Syria's choices, and the Syrian state all the while sacrificing Lebanon's stability, economy, and future. A terrorist like no other
Merry Christmas to all

If this statement was released let's say around the year 2000, then I would have readily accepted it as it is said, but now after all the blunder Sayed Hassan committed, including that infamous statement just after the end of the 2006 war with Israel, I am nowadays bound to take him and his entire organization with more than a pinch of salt. Sorry, but that's how most people now feel.

This picture as depicted seems to portray the very ills of the situation: here is a man once greatly respected and loved, side by side with a man that was and still is butchering the Lebanese. Sayed Hassan is portrayed sitting next to a man that still refuses to truly recognize Lebanon (now forget about that so-called embassy business which is nothing more than another moukhabarat office). Having said that, how can Sayed have the uncanniness od\f talking of liberating Lebanon when he cozies with the very epitome of occupation? If the Syrian regime wins the war in Syria, his next target quite naturally would be Lebanon again, one way or the other he will try. If he loses the war, so long as he still has a gun and people who will carry them for him inside Lebanon, he will still remain a threat. What Sayed Hassan has missed again is this: This picture should have been Him sitting together with his Lebanese siblings. Another missed opportunity that will cost him dearly.
