The General Security Directorate detained on Saturday two Syrian national on charges of belonging to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The state-run National News Agency reported that Ali Abed al-Awad (41) and Awad Mohammed al-Ali (19) were detained in the area of Buwaiti in the village of Kfarjoz in the southern province of Nabatieh.
The two detainees confessed during investigations of taking part in the fighting in Syria, where they joined the ranks of the Islamic group.
A number of people have in recent months been charged with belonging to ISIL and other extremist organizations.
The army and security forces have been cracking down on suspects wanted on terrorism charges.
These efforts were intensified in light of clashes in August between the army and Islamist gunmen who overran the northeastern border town of Arsal.
