President Michel Aoun has announced that the Arab Spring that swept through several Arab countries was more of an “Arab hell.”
“The Arab Spring was more of an Arab hell due to the emergence of terrorism and because the region is still suffering from the repercussions of this terrorism,” Aoun said in an interview with the Tunisian national channel.
“Syria used to be called Arabs’ beating heart, but what have we done to this heart? If you are against the regime you cannot kill the people. The Syrian people are the victim,” the president added.
“The war in the region must stop and there should be a return to dialogue, which would contribute to the respect of the countries’ common interests,” Aoun went on to say.
Commenting on U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to recognize Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights, the president said: “Jerusalem was lost, the Golan is also being lost and we’re afraid that the Lebanese Shebaa Farms and Kfarshouba Hills will be next.”
Democracy could break out in Lebanon any minute. Christian privilege is the cause of Lebanon's instability and insecurity. Tell me, Brillo, what you need Constitutional Article 24's set-aside of half of the Chamber of Deputies seats for. If there are enough Christians to justify those numbers, what is the set-aside for? If not, does forcing the issue this way help anything? How do you tell if someone in Lebanon is a Christian? Please supply your own punchline: it sounds like the set-up for a joke.
Arab Spring is a process... and a long one...but apparently Mr Aoun favours Dictators who aloud him to come Back to Lebanon during our "Arab Spring" in 2005...
