Geagea says Hizbullah's resistance behind current collapse, disasters

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea has said that “the result of resistance as proposed by Hizbullah is the collapse and disasters we’re witnessing today.”

“Resistance is to live in dignity, but are you living in dignity today? They promise the people that they will fight the universe while our people are living ‘beneath the seventh ground,’” Geagea said, addressing the Shiite community in the Baabda district and entire Lebanon.

“We do not accept that any single party monopolize the concept of resistance, seeing as the real resistance is the one practiced by the entire state supported by the people. What Hizbullah is saying is wrong, seeing as they only want to preserve their weapons. If it is really a resistance, what has it done over the past 15 years?” Geagea asked, during an electoral rally for the candidate Pierre Bou Assi in Baabda.

“All Lebanese people support the concept of resistance, but it should be practiced within the right frameworks and exclusively through the Lebanese state and army,” Geagea added.

Geagea also accused Hizbullah of “allying with all the corrupts in Lebanon.”

That’s a bit overstretched. Hezbollah is one of the main reasons, and has the largest share in responsibilities behind the collapse of Lebanon. But corruption of all parties in post civil war Lebanon is the culprit. Finally, Impunity for the civil war paved the way to the ongoing catastrophe.

Corruption is a contributing factor and should be eradicated, but let us be factual. Corruption has always existed and still in most developed country. However, it is insane to compare the hundreds of $billions cost of Hizbollah's takeover (political risk, economic isolation, high interest, exodus of western firms, dried up investment, insecurity, airport under Basij hands, damaged reputation, destruction of institutions education-banking-health-justice, etc) So there is no comparison between corruption's cost that is a minute fraction of the hundreds of $billion cost of Hizbollah occupying and hijacking Lebanon to make it a Basij satellite, a bargaining chip, and a launchpad for Iranian rockets. Without disarming Hizbollah we'll never exit Hell!

The cause of Lebanon's present distress is racism: Article 24's set-aside of half of parliament to Christians. Look at what Geagea, head of Lebanese Forces, a Christian band, says today, "We do not accept that any single party monopolize the concept of resistance, seeing as the real resistance is the one practiced by the entire state supported by the people....All Lebanese people support the concept of resistance, but it should be practiced within the right frameworks and exclusively through the Lebanese state and army...Geagea said, addressing the Shiite community in the Baabda district and entire Lebanon."
