No joint statement was issued after the French-Saudi meeting on Lebanon that was held Friday in Paris, but leaks about the general vision of the two parties regarding the presidential crisis have emerged, al-Akhbar newspaper reported on Saturday.

“The French are trying to benefit from the Saudi-Iranian agreement to pass the settlement that they had previously proposed, but the Saudi stance is still negative,” the daily said.

Saudi Arabia is “still rejecting the principle of bargaining between the presidency and the premiership and the possibility of the election as presidency of Marada Movement chief Suleiman Franjieh,” al-Akhbar added.

“Prior to its departure to Paris, the Riyadh delegation had returned to raising specific standards and specifications and to talking about reforms,” the newspaper quoted informed sources as saying.

I am amazed how naharnet publishes these hezbollah self-serving fictitous stories concocted by Al-Akhbar, the mouthpiece of hezbollah.

I mean did the French leaked the information to Al-Akhbar or did the Saudis? Laughable indeed!

Currently, France is experiencing a period of significant social unrest due to widespread demonstrations and protests against proposed changes to the pension system. In response to these reforms, the French have demonstrated a commendable level of activism, which can be attributed to their decades-long exposure to the rhetoric surrounding technological advancement and increased productivity. At present, the French population is taking a prominent stance against neo-liberal exploitation, exemplifying a strong and laudable pushback against the exploitation of the working class. As such, they warrant the unwavering support of all.
