Nasrallah meets Haniyeh amid high tensions with Israel

Hezbollah’s media department announced Sunday that the group’s chief, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, received a Hamas delegation headed by the Palestinian group’s leader Ismail Haniyeh.

Nasrallah and Haniyeh discussed “the most important developments in occupied Palestine, the course of events at al-Aqsa Mosque, and the escalating resistance in the West Bank and Gaza, in addition to general political developments in the region, the readiness of the Resistance Axis and the cooperation of its parties,” the statement said.

Haniyeh, who arrived in Lebanon last week shortly before rockets were launched at Israel from south Lebanon, had been scheduled to make a public appearance in Beirut on Friday. But it was canceled for security reasons following the cross-border flare-up.

No group has officially claimed responsibility for the rocket attacks, but Israel has accused Hamas of being behind them, retaliating with airstrikes on what it called Hamas sites in Gaza and south Lebanon.

Any more justification why Lebanon should be peacefully split?

The path to salvation is clear. Lebanon is not a tiny nation. Its population is greater than Denmark, Norway or Finland. Many tiny nations like Monaco and Luxembourg are the most prosperous, so would be a split Lebanon. Last year elections left no doubt there are 2 distinct Lebanons with nothing in common and contradictory hopes and aims. Combined in unnatural union both will sink and cause pain and misery to everyone, whereas independent will bring happiness and prosperity. Shia voted for Iranian model, worship Nassrallah and his self-governing institutions, deserve own nation with all elected offices, merged army/Hizb and Sharia law of the land. On the other hand, there is common destiny and organic unbreakable link between Christians & Druze. Now eternally reinforced by Sunnis through Rafiq blood and Cedar Revolution principles; a shared history of freedom and democracy. Time to plan a peaceful division like Czechoslovakia so both sides can to live to their full potential.

Gebran sons. 100% I have been saying this for years. Our only way out is partition. Lebanon on 1 side, shia lebanon on the other. Let shias vote for berri amd hezb all they want in their country. We will create jobs, boost FDI, focus on the economy in our country. They will resist Israel, liberate Yemen and free east Timor in theirs. Lets compare gdp in 10 yrs. The problem is that nonpolitical party is pushing partition! Let them have soith, northern bekaa and dahieh. We can make corridors...

Everyone except the Lebanese have any say in their country- how embarrassing. Here are a bunch of goons who are led by Iran making decisions that the locals have no say in and Iran is orchestrating it. Trump should have destroyed Iran with a nuclear bomb- at least he could have done that.
