Britain Urges Citizens to Leave Syria Immediately

Britain urged its nationals on Saturday to leave Syria "now" by commercial means, warning that its embassy in Damascus would unlikely be able to help them if the situation deteriorates further.

"British nationals should leave now by commercial means whilst these are still operating," the Foreign Office said in updated travel advice.

"Those who choose to remain in Syria, or to visit against our advice, should be aware that it is highly unlikely that the British embassy in Damascus would be able to provide a normal consular service in the event of a further breakdown in law and order and increased violent civil disorder.

"Evacuation options would be limited because of likely communication and travel restrictions," it said.

The British were one of the first major military powers to use psychological warfare. Various techniques are used, by any set of groups, and aimed to influence a target audience's value systems, belief systems, emotions, motives, reasoning, or behavior.
The U.S. Department of Defense defines psychological warfare as:

"The planned use of propaganda and other psychological actions having the primary purpose of influencing the opinions, emotions, attitudes, and behavior of hostile foreign groups in such a way as to support the achievement of national objectives."[2]

It is very sad to see the Brits leaving Syria in the same time as the Sunnis Salafi wahhaby terrorists ... Why do they put themselves on the same level as these international terrorists that are creating problems all over the world ..!?

some of the people that comment are real delusional. So now the British and Americans are helping to put Muslim extremists in power? The same extremists that they spent billions of USD to get rid of. Come on people dig your heads out of the sand. Do you only watch Syrian televison?

Default-user-icon McKinley Era (Guest) 18 June 2011, 20:54

And this is the case, known as the paradox of the foreign policy in some European countries. In fact the US foreign policy have been developed on the dilemmas like you mentioned in your message ROXTON
Please do not forget the Wilson’s foreign policy, that pushed Europeans and the colonial world for the change. And the same time created close door policy, isolation US for 40 years and emerged as the superpower in the middle of 40s.Ha! Ha
Look at the case of Egypt, Libya, pushed by media, promoted by US but in fact has been realized by NATO....what you see in Middle East recently is the domino effect, the same mentality that was used 100 years ago to de-colonize the world from the Ottoman Empire by accepting the treaties and doctrine created in White House, famous 14 points....Treaties of Freedom and trade, regardless of democratic values of state, just definition, self-determined state, with boundaries.
Open your eyes that have been full of sand unfortunately since your birth!

Money is a wrong value to measure the reason of action and to support the motive of action. The classic business plan requires promotion and motivation to attract the customer ( Drop in Price ). Loss on the short term and significant gain of dollars on the long term. economy , economy.....

The Western imperialists like to destablize any small country that refuses to go along their plans whether it is Leftist (Venezuela) Leftist only by name (Syria) or Islamist (Iran). They do not care whether it is an Extremist Islamic regime like Saudi Arabia or Secular minded like Bin Ali of Tunisia...just as long they are not anti-Israel because Isarel is in charge in the middle east.

Mustapha...Turkey and Nato is going to free the people of Syria? you can not really believe that? Do you think they will next liberate Palestine? The NATO campaign has strenghned Qadafi in Libya...The baathist would love that.

Missing mansour 19 June 2011, 12:22

John from koura do you actually believe qadifi in Libya is stronger today than before the up rising?mate you need you head examined the rebels are at the door step of tripoli , of course with NATO air support but his finished and NATO and the U.S got all of middle east in their crosshairs and Syria is next.whether you or anyone else want to admit it.Thank you

Not before the uprising , "Mansour"? after NATO intervention. Soon US will leave Iraq and a Pro Iranian regime will takwe over. The US will leave Afghanistan in several years and the Taliban will take over. The US economy is in shambles because of its failed interventionist foreign policy. Those who have worked for them better be on the run.

Missing peace 19 June 2011, 20:12

explain this pls:
moubarak is pro US: he was removed
Ben ali is pro US : he was removed
Kadhafi is anti US: he is being removed
assad is pro us: he is being removed. (pro us because he protects israel from any pb in the golan heights and this for decades! So the US and israel prefer him in power!)
Saleh is pro us : he is being removed...
how can you sincerely think that all this is a US plan and you deny the arab people from their courage of rising against dictators!
it seems some here prefer the arabs to be like sheep behind their leaders! maybe because they are sheep too and are afraid of losing their masters because they only think through the minds of their beloved leaders! !!!

some also say it s the muslims terrorists who are behind all this! just show us one single muslim extremist who was behind all this and claims in the demonstrations an islamist gvt!
all we see is people asking for dignity and liberty....
