Suleiman Meets Spanish Minister: Despite Financial Crisis, it Has Not Halted its Aid to Lebanon

President Michel Suleiman praised on Wednesday Spain’s support to Lebanon, starting with its participation in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

He made his statements after holding talks with visiting Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Soraya Rodriguez Ramos.

He added: “Despite the world financial crisis, Spain never halted its aid to Lebanon.”

The President also voiced his support for bolstering cooperation between Lebanon and Spain, hoping that it would play a role in reaching peace in the Middle East.

For her part, Ramos relayed Spanish King Juan Carlos’ regards to Suleiman, voicing her country’s support to the President’s efforts in forming a new cabinet.

She also voiced Spain’s determination to open an office for bilateral cooperation in Lebanon despite her country’s economic crisis.
