Police have arrested 14 Jewish Israeli youths from Jerusalem on suspicion of carrying out a series of attacks targeting Arab Israelis, a spokesman said on Sunday.

Micky Rosenfeld told Agence France Presse that the minors aged between 13 and 16, attended yeshivot -- religious Jewish seminaries.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday said sanctions on Iran are close to "achieving their goal" of dismantling Tehran's nuclear enrichment capability and should not be relaxed.

"The sanctions on Iran are working. They are very strong; they are a moment away from achieving their goal," he said ahead of the weekly cabinet meeting.

A nine-year-old Israeli girl was out of danger in hospital Sunday after being wounded in what police said was a probable “terrorist attack” in a West Bank settlement.

Police said they were not ruling out the possibility of other motives for what was variously described as a shooting or a stabbing as the girl played in her garden in the Psagot settlement near Ramallah.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told Agence France Presse the girl, from Psagot east of the Palestinian political capital of Ramallah, was "shot while playing in the garden outside her house".

The military court sentenced in absentia on Saturday a Lebanese army officer to death for collaborating with Israel and a Palestinian was sentenced to 10 years in prison over the same charges.

The court condemned Brigidair Ghassan al-Jidd, demanding the death penalty over spying for Israel.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat denied on Saturday reports saying that he is preventing the cabinet from holding an extraordinary session to discuss two decrees essential to award the oil blocks for the oil companies.

“If the issue requires an extraordinary session to resolve it then I don't mind but the recommendations of the petroleum authority should be taken into consideration,” Jumblat said in comments published in As Safir newspaper.

The residents of the southern border town of Kfarkila on Friday woke up to the sounds of a major deployment by Israeli vehicles and troops near the Fatima Gate on the Israeli-Lebanese border, state-run National News Agency reported.

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour accused Israel of seeking to take Lebanon's share of its offshore gas and oil wealth, reported al-Joumhouria newspaper on Friday.

He told the daily: “We will prove to the world that the Israelis are taking our offshore wealth.”
