Japan's Go Soeda survived a scare from former world No. 1 Lleyton Hewitt and American Sam Querrey barely broke a sweat in advancing at the U.S. Clay Court Championships on Monday.

Soeda needed two hours and 36 minutes to post a 4-6, 7-6 (7/3), 6-3 win over Hewitt, who won this event in 2009. The 30-year-old Soeda had to save one match point against Hewitt.

"We consider that as long as this attack is not solved in a way that satisfies Fenerbahce and public opinion, a suspension of the championship is inevitable," the club said on its website.

Rodriguez to Make Real Madrid Comeback

Colombian World Cup star James Rodriguez will start for Real Madrid against Granada on Sunday after a two month layoff with a foot injury, Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed.

Rodriguez fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during a 2-1 win over Sevilla at the start of February and his absence has coincided with Real's decline in recent weeks as they surrendered a four-point lead over Barcelona at the top of La Liga to now trail the Catalans by four points.
