Read this story in English W460

"The jihadists want to ignite war between the country's Sunnis and Shiites, he said."

But HA does not want to ignite Sunni-Shiite war by going to Syria, Iraq, Bahrain, and Yemen. That is OK for Qahwaji.

"He also accused them of seeking to create a safe passage to the sea in Syria, Iraq and Lebanon."

How about Hawaii, it has sea also!

Thumb EagleDawn 15:04 ,2014

The USA did not say it was launching airstrikes to defend shia villages. The USA does not chant for Zainab and Hussain or any religious slogans when it fights its enemies. The USA did not say "If you want to fight us, come to Syria", shall I continue or reality hit you in the face once again?

Thumb Maxx 15:04 ,2014

The only things one can battle in Hawai'i is a volcano and a mega-wave. The former would be a losing battle, and Jihadists don't know how to surf to win the latter.

"everyone is free to chant to whatever god they pray to"
Yes, in their churches, homes, synagogues, or mosques but not on the battlefield in a foreign country while slaughtering its inhabitants who happened to be of a different faith. Stop eluding the truth, the world is sick of people like you. If you tell a 2 year sold child that HA is not waging a sectarian war and fueling Sunni-Shiite strife, it will roll on the floor and laughs its head off. Peddle your propaganda on Manar, yallah.

Thumb EagleDawn 15:25 ,2014

don't try to twist the topic. You started by saying the USA is also igniting sunni-shiite strife by carrying airstrikes on ISIS thus justifying HA presence in Syria. Now, you divert the discussion to what you claim as U.S atrocities in its wars on moslems. Now, how does that relate to your first claim about sunni-shiite strife. It is useless to debate with you coz every time you are cornered and caught you bring more variables to the debate. Losers typically do that...

I'm neither a March 8er nor a March 14er (I'm an April 20er), so I suppose that should explain why I only support Gen. Qahwaji's statement 50%.
Here are my reservations: Though on the one hand, sure, Tripoli and Akkar (as well as Arsal) are simply more easily accessible from Syria and more susceptible to harbour recruiters and sleeper cells (and, admittedly, recent events didn't help alleviate suspicions either), now that the terrorists know the Army's main strategy, they might go and re-base themselves in less suspicious areas. Have you seen the photo of the latest defector? He doesn't look like a terrorist, more like a "shabb jagal", so he could pass under the radar if the radar is only set to stereotypical profiling.
I'm 100% pro-Army, but I believe that the Army should keep their eyes open all over Lebanon, not just in the "hot-spots".

the_roar 4 hours ao
why you getting mad? You seem to hate me & anyone else who supports the LAF & the Gen of the LAF.

Spare us the nonsense, Roar. You always brag how the army is working with Hezbollah side by side. If you were really for the LAF, you would not accept any militia working outside state jurisdiction. Either you are with the LAF, be it strong & competent or weak & incompetent w bas. Not "I love the army but God bless Hezbollah for working with them." No.

Militias were the reason the civil war went on for 15 years. Militias were the reason behind 7 Ayyar clashes, the Saida battle last year, and the frequent Tripoli skirmishes. Militias are the reason why lunatics like Daesh accuse the the army of being controlled by militias. Militias are the reason Lebanon isn't a united country. Militias are the reason for sectarian strife.

Thumb nickjames 19:18 ,2014

"Lets see who supports the LAF unconditionally & who will criticize it."
--When you support Hezbollah, by default you are supporting LAF on conditions. In other words, you don't have faith in the LAF without Hezbollah.

Thumb nickjames 19:49 ,2014

I'm truly lacking? Lol so what is your position? You love the LAF, but you also like Hezbollah? How admirable, Roar. How would you feel if the Hariris with their billions formed a hardcore Mustaqbal militia (not the pathetic dudes in 7 Ayyar), or if Israel started rearming the Ouwwet and they retake all of Mount Lebanon? You would be pissed as hell, you'd say they're traitors who are defying the state.

You don't care about Lebanon, you just support Aoun and what's good for Aoun. If that means supporting Hezbollah then it's okay with you because Hezbollah gives Aoun more power. You use Aoun's past as a general to pretend you support the LAF, when really all you support is Aoun.

Thumb nickjames 19:57 ,2014

than* Hezbollah. And what the Armenians, they should take up arms and strengthen the Change and Reform axis, right? Otherwise they'd be traitors to Aoun and Franjieh. Now all the political parties have their own militias, isn't that beautiful, Roar? Isn't it great how we support the LAF, but also the right to have militias work outside the jurisdiction of the state?

Thumb nickjames 20:11 ,2014

A comment got deleted for some reason, thanks Naharnet. I asked what if Jumblatt fully reactivated the PSP. They got their weapons Roar. Why you think Hezbollah couldn't conquer Chouf during 7 Ayyar? What about Berri, does he get a free ride since he'll strengthen the Shia resistance? What about Aoun? If he found all those then-17-year-old boys he abandoned in 1990 and recruited them to start his own militia, that'd be patriotic of him right? He'd be more patriotic than Hezbollah. What about Franjieh? He needs to protect Zgharta and help Aoun, right?
