Report: West asks political forces to move to new nominations

The heads of parliamentary blocs and political forces have been told by Western diplomats to “move to a new phase of presidential nominations,” a media report said.

“The first phase showed that it is impossible for any of the proposed candidates to be elected,” the diplomats told the Lebanese officials, according to al-Joumhouria newspaper.

“Should these forces refrain from moving to a list of new nominations, they will be held responsible for presidential vacuum,” the daily added, quoting the diplomats.

“The Western and Arab forces are throwing their weight behind the completion of the presidential elections,” the diplomats added.
