Opposition MPs Receive 'Syria Threats' by SMS

W460

March 14 camp MP Ammar Houri revealed that he and four colleagues were texted death threats from a Syrian telephone number before and after Internal Security Forces Intelligence Bureau head Wissam al-Hasan's assassination on Friday.

"On the eve of the attack, we received an SMS from a Syrian number that read: 'Sons of bitches, we will get you one by one,'" Ammar Houri said on television on Monday night.

He named the other MPs as Ahmed Fatfat, Hadi Hbeish, Khaled al-Daher and Nuhad al-Mashnouq.

"At the time, we didn't pay any attention to it, until the assassination of Hasan," which was widely blamed on Damascus that also left two others dead.

"After the assassination, we received a second SMS that read: 'Congratulations, the countdown has begun. One of 10 eliminated.'"

Hasan was noted for his investigation of Syrian political crimes in Lebanon. His murder plunged the country, divided between partisans and opponents of Syrian President Bashar Assad, into a political crisis.

Houri and the four other MPs belong to the March 14 opposition, which is led by former Premier Saad Hariri, a strong opponent of Assad, whom he blames for the 2005 assassination of his father and former premier, Rafik.

The opposition has demanded that Prime Minister Najib Miqati resign, accusing him of covering for the murderers of Hasan.

Since Rafik Hariri's murder, several other Lebanese political figures hostile to the Damascus regime have also been assassinated.

This is one big conspiracy people!! it's the C.I.A., the mossad, the Grey Aliens from Betelgeuse, Cartman, and the Boy Scouts! it's obvious, no? oh and I believe the bombing in ashrafieh didn't happen too. it was the same guys that fabricated the lunar landing in hollywood! (:

Default-user-icon SMS-Aoun (Guest) 23 October 2012, 13:59

And you probably find it "phunny" that Aoun threatened Hasan by saying that playing with High Voltage Electricity pole will get him Pulverised : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cnAgTfTq74&feature=em-share_video_user

Tawator el 3ali bi FAHMO ?

Funny no ?

Default-user-icon SMS-Aoun (Guest) 23 October 2012, 14:58

Well, he's either INVOLVED in the assassination which makes him guilty !

or Prophetic which makes him guilty too as his "VISION" could have avoided this whole mess. If he's PROPHETIC, he can also give the names of the culprits no ?

Aoun is not a loonie ... I respect Aoun for successfully brainwashing so many people !

AOUNIES are Loonies and they don't deserve respect for being naive and stupid enough to actually believe what Aoun says and actually say things as stupid as you are saying. Without questioning for one minute anything he says !

You guys question God's existence or religion more than you question Aoun !

God help you FT and all other Loonies ... Aounies ... !

Default-user-icon The Prophet (Guest) 23 October 2012, 16:46

FT ... "nul n'est prophete en son pays" ... if Aoun wants to prophecize, then he should go elsewhere and take you and your likes with him :)

But again, this is a clear indication of how dillusional you all are using words such a "PROPHET" to describe him.

The only prophets are those of the book ... I'm pretty sure Aoun isn't mentionned in any of the books :)

Anyway, the person who should stop coke (supplied by Hezbollah) is you ... it's dangerous to mix with Orangina :) too much C will make you believe and say stupid things ...

I do not pity you ... I only pity the poor victims of M8 and M14 which are the true Lebanese people, something you will never be part of it seems !

Get a life, read books, start thinking for yourself ... you should be above Aoun, Geagea and co ...

everyone stop being so gullible, It is very easy to get rid of someone if you control every step they take, and for the opposition in Lebanon the guys who are in control at the very top command of the hierarchy are also the guys that benefit most from seeing Lebanon in a state of anarchy, You guys should look no further from those responsible than those that reside across Lebanon's Southern frontier.

Thumb eli-g 23 October 2012, 14:58

@ FT What confuses me is why do you dismiss Syria as a suspect? It sounds like you believe it could be anyone but Syria.

Thumb Chupachups 23 October 2012, 15:20

Eli- ill answer that on his behalf... It's Bcoz FT is such an open minded person that he is awaiting the "investigation" before blaming anyone and surely it is not gonna be Assad anyway because he has high morals and hands clean of blood... And because nasrallah flew that toy plane into Israel the Jews decided to get revenge... Cough cough cough

You all are a bunch of losers, especially those who who claim that everyone else is wrong except himself!
You know that when you play with fire you get burnt. Both sides in lebanon are involved in a game that is bigger than them, and are getting their hands dirty in by fighting a regional war.

Thumb lebanon_first 23 October 2012, 16:24

I dont give much credit to these claims. these 14March hawks are starting to get on my nerves. If they want the government, let them stop the boycotting and the street action and get into political action, learn compromise and do a bipartisan governement. Now the M8 government proved it could not do much alone. And M14 are bored to be outside the action. They should finish singof, and start playing cabinet together again like grownups.

the1phoenix: "M8 has fed into the brains of their followers", SERIOUSLY? Where did you learn to speak English? You are a sanctimonious and condescending individual who cannot communicate his point without resorting to a tone of superiority that comes across as a tone of stupidity. Extremists on both side of Islam, be it the Party of God or the Muslim Brotherhood have a vested interest in creating chaos and mayhem in Lebanon by assassinating a prominent and beloved figure. The conspiracy on the Lebanese is to turn them against each other and plunge them into civil war so Pro and Anti Assad supporters can each achieve their agendas. Who did it, we will probably never know and is irrelevant. The has been wanabe president at any cost and pathological split personality GMA is irrelevant and his followers are incomprehensible blathering fools who have proven time and time again they would sacrifice the country to satisfy their hatred of Hariri.

Missing jihadists_r_cowards 23 October 2012, 17:47

Now is the time to focus and join hands. Extremism must be eradicated from all Lebanese on both sides. Neither party is right nor is either wrong. All worked against the best interest of Lebanon and agains the best interest of the Lebanese children who will someday inherent the result of this outright obsession with being the only true savior of Lebanon. People like FT and the1phoenix have to be expelled from society and their extremism rejected completely. They are entrenched and rotting at the core at a rapid pace. The dialogue between them is contrary to civility and the notion of common existence between people with different visions. This is not the time to focus on GMA vs Geagea or Nasrallah vs Hariri. This is the time to send a clear message to all of them that the Lebanese people will no longer be victims and suffer and their hands.

the1phoenix, of course you will take any criticism you disagree with as a personal insult. The reality is I very much want to debate you but you are entrenched in your point of view and you are an ideologue. My message to you is to tone down the outlandish analysis and the inference that somehow you are connected to political sources that the rest of us have no access to and whose content we are not worthy to understand.

Instant coffee please, 3 cream, 3 sugar cubes, let the conversation begin.

remember that aoun always said the biggest enemy to lebanon was the assad regime, now out of mere profit he sides with it... they call it honor or pragmatism lol!

when i think that we have been "swimming" in this mess for such a long time, with no visual to the end of it... it scares me.
our generation has lost so much time, effort, education...fighting...
i would have loved to stay in lebanon and fight for it, but at what expense? putting my kids in harms way? praying everyday that no bombing attempt will hit them as they go to school?
it is a constant struggle for me, i love my country because i was brought up there, because my whole family is there, because it has helped shape who i am. but i love nothing about what it gives me as a nation... neither the values it inculcates in us (no respect for others...) nor the lack of patriotism...(most people fighting are fighting for a person) nor the lack of security... i could spend a lot of time pointing things out, but what a wast of precious time where i could be reading a book, working, spending time helping others, or spending time with my family...

Default-user-icon emma (Guest) 24 October 2012, 00:06

some of you will comment and say that i am an individualist and that i don't care about my country.... but does my country care about me? i'm 33 years old and every time i hear a loud noise (even outside lebanon) i jump and look around, i still have nightmares of wounded people the 9 year old kid i was, should not see... i don't want my kids to grow in that environment, with those fears.
others will say danger is everywhere, you could be in france and have a subway bomb attempt....but how lower are the chances of that happening versus being in lebanon?

Default-user-icon emma (Guest) 24 October 2012, 00:06

i want my kids to grow in a safer environment, i want them to have opportunities to grow, i want them to have values, i want them to have the option of spending time educating themselves with diverse means (public libraries, conferences, social work...)
look at all of you waisting time attacking each other meaninglessly, what are you gaining? what is lebanon gaining? what are all those martyrs gaining? what are the lebanese people gaining?
i won't say stop fighting and lets build a better place for all of us to live in, it is useless... i have given up. we need to educated generations and generations to come in order to start dreaming of the lebanon we want...and we are far from doing that...
good luck for the few that are fighting for this country, your strength amazes me. may god give you everything you need to peruse this fight.
and for those who are helping lebanon sink even more...may god open your hearts and your minds and help you find the right path.
