Hasan Awada, the municipal chief of the southern town of Yaroun, was wounded on Monday when a blast ripped through his car as he was driving it in the Tyre area of al-Housh, state-run National News Agency reported.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident, NNA said.

The agency added that Awada was rushed to Lebanese-Italian Hopsital for treatment. But Voice of Lebanon radio (93.3) later reported that the municipal chief's wounds required his transfer to the American University of Beirut Medical Center in Beirut.

Citing reports, the radio station said the explosion was caused by a bomb.

A security source later told Agence France Presse that the car was booby-trapped, noting that Awada is close to Hizbullah.

He also has no reservation at being treated by the "American" University of Beirut Medical Center.

Or maybe a dispute between two car dealers

who are you calling a low life mowaten? how many Lebanese people did hizballah murder and assassinate? how many bombings were they apart of? how much do you support them? How much has your support enabled them to kill more Lebanese? And you have the audacity to call me a low life for pointing how your hizb's hypocrisy? The evil Americans are not evil anymore when it's time to save their life but sure are evil enough for your hizb to blow up their embassy? You tell me, who's the low life?

I guess now the M14 can not brag about being the only ones targeted for assasinations! funny though that the bomb was so small that is just caused injuries (not that I wish him any harm, I truly don't wish any Lebanese any harm, esp since others posts mention him as a good man) and the car still looks in decent shape ... one would wonder either the bomber is an idiot or it was just to throw some doubt that since this happened in Tyre then it is Assiir's doing and the war will start again without really killing the man ... just thinking out loud here! (waiting for the smart replies)

internal purge

Missing allouchi 26 February 2013, 14:45

probably internal dispute between rival hizbala gangs concerning extortion and drugs...

Thumb LEBhasNOhope 26 February 2013, 17:06

How else could someone get to him when no one is allowed in Hizb controlled areas? Who in Lebanon uses bombs to achieve their objective? how hard is it to make an educated guess on what transpired when it's the same old story over and over.

Thumb LEBhasNOhope 26 February 2013, 18:01

How many bombs have been linked to the mossad in Lebanon EVER! What were they actually arrested for? Spying! How many bombings have been attributed to the hizb? How many times have they used it against each other and covered it up with stories of cars catching fire, exploding propane tanks, etc.
Is it possible that mossad did this? Sure, anything is possible. Is it likely? Based on patterns and history, it’s far more likely this is an internal dispute. Obviously I did not conduct an investigation and gather this info; this is just my opinion on what transpired.

This is my father's uncle, allah ye7mi...L7amdela 3al salemi...This rarely happens in Southern Lebanon and hasn't happened since 2006 and also this guy is a real good person with many manners and is always reasonable, I would know! The car doesn't look damaged from the outside but if you check from the inside, it is really damaged...but hopefully a 7aded can fix this. I'm from Yaroun and it is mixed with Muslims and Christians (Muslim Majority) and there aren't problems between us, the mayor knows how to handle things in Yaroun and so does others in the Baladiye so really...I think it was a bomb anyways because of the inside damage...
