Geagea Urges Calm as Btedei Incident Victim Succumbs to Injuries

A Lebanese man succumbed to his injuries on Monday after his wife was killed and his son injured over the weekend during clashes between the Lebanese army and a number of gunmen west of Baalbek, which prompted Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea to urge calm and promise that the culprits will be brought to justice.

Unknown assailants robbed at gunpoint on Saturday LL500 million from the Jammal Trust Bank's branch in the Bekaa city of Baalbek, reported the National News Agency.

It said that the gunmen, riding in two BMW SUVs, intercepted two bank employees as they were transferring the funds to the Central Bank branch in the city.

Gunmen Free Drug Kingpin Nouh Zoaiter from Baalbek Hospital

A suspect wanted on several drug smuggling charges was injured on Friday during an army raid against his residence in the Tal Abyad area in the eastern region of Baalbek, reported the National News Agency.

Nouh Zoaiter sustained injuries to his legs during the raid, after which he was taken to al-Rayyan Hospital for treatment amid the heavy deployment of the army and Zoaiter family gunmen around the facility.
