Switzerland on Thursday authorized the extradition of former Bosnian Muslim commander Naser Oric to Bosnia rather than Serbia, which had issued the war crimes warrant for his arrest.

Oric, who led Muslim forces in Bosnia's east during its 1992-1995 civil war, was arrested on June 10 in Geneva, accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity against ethnic Serbs during the conflict.

The Netherlands has for the first time apologized to relatives of Bosnian Muslim men murdered at Srebrenica in 1995, the Dutch defense ministry said on Thursday.

Relatives of three men who were forced out of a U.N. compound won a long-running battle with the Dutch state in 2013, claiming that the lives of Muhamed Nuhanovic, his father Ibro and Rizo Mustafic could have been saved.

Serbia's premier Aleksandar Vucic, moving to improve ties with Bosnia, said Friday that he was ready to go to Srebrenica to honor the memory of 8,000 Bosnian Muslims killed by Bosnian Serbs two decades ago.

"As the prime minister of the Serbian government I'm ready to bow and pay respect to innocent victims of Srebrenica" who died in July 1995 in the most gruesome chapter of Bosnia's 1992-1995 war, Vucic told reporters.

Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik said Wednesday he would ask Russia to use its veto to prevent the adoption of a U.N. resolution on the Srebrenica genocide which is being drafted by Britain.

"I will certainly demand (Russia use its right of veto) and explain that it is a hot issue for us (ethnic Serbs)," Dodik told Bosnian Serb RTRS television.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic Monday called off a visit to Bosnia after a member of Bosnia's tripartite presidency opposed his trip over the arrest of a former Bosnian Muslim fighter on Serbian war crimes charges.

Nikolic had been set to arrive in Sarajevo on Tuesday, on his first official visit since 2012.

Several hundred Muslim veterans of Bosnia's 1990s wars attended a protest Friday to demand the release of Naser Oric, a Bosnian Muslim commander arrested on a Serbian warrant alleging war crimes.

"We did not come to defend Naser Oric, because we know he is innocent," said one of the veterans, Zulfo Salihovic at a protest in Bosnia's capital Sarajevo.

Families of the thousands of Bosnian Muslims massacred at Srebrenica reacted with outrage Thursday over the arrest of former Bosnian Muslim commander Naser Oric on a war crimes warrant from Serbia.

Oric led the Bosnian Muslim forces in Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia, where Bosnian Serb forces slaughtered almost 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys in mid-July 1995. 

Islamists claiming to be members of the Islamic State (IS) group called for jihad in the Balkans in a video widely reported Friday by local media, on the eve of a visit by Pope Francis to Sarajevo.

The 21-minute video, made in a slick style and carrying the logo of a production company linked to IS propaganda, appears similar to other videos released by the group. 

Bosnian prosecutors on Friday charged 12 people suspected of fighting with the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq with terrorism offenses.

The 12 Bosnian nationals were charged with "becoming part of a terrorist group and illegally participating in conflicts in Syria in Iraq" during 2013 and 2014, a prosecutors' statement said.

The international envoy for Bosnia told the U.N. Security Council on Tuesday that any attempt by Bosnian Serbs to revive their separatist ambitions must be firmly rebuffed.

High Representative Valentin Inzko said he was concerned by the Bosnian Serb ruling party's threat to hold an independence referendum in 2018.
