Former head of al-Mustaqbal bloc ex-PM Fouad Saniora on Friday condemned U.S. President Donald Trump's stance on Syria's Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, warning that it “torpedoes all peace initiatives.”

Trump said on Thursday it was time for Washington to recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, a strategic territory it seized from Syria in the Six-Day War of 1967 and annexed in a move never recognized by the international community.

Contacts between Speaker Nabih Berri and al-Mustaqbal Movement leader ex-PM Saad Hariri have managed to contain the latest dispute between Mustaqbal bloc chief ex-PM Fouad Saniora and Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil, who is also Berri's political aide, a media report said on Thursday.

Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc chief MP Fouad Saniora told the gatherers at the Center House in downtown Beirut that he hopes that the upcoming national dialogue sessions would turn into “productive” meetings that tackle issues that concern the Lebanese people, especially the vacuum.
