Gunship in Emergency Landing near Yemen Border

An Apache helicopter gunship from the Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemeni rebels made an emergency landing Thursday just inside the border from Yemen, a Saudi official said, ruling out hostile fire.

Shelling from Yemen Kills 5 in Saudi Border City

Shells fired from Yemen killed five people in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday in a second day of cross-border bombing blamed on Shiite Huthi rebels, civil defense authorities said.

Two civilians in a car and two passers-by were killed by a shell in the city of Najran, while 11 others were wounded, the civil defense department said in a statement carried by the SPA state news agency.

Saudi Executions Toll Hits 40

A Saudi convicted of murder was beheaded on Tuesday, the interior ministry announced, raising to 40 the number of people executed in the conservative Muslim kingdom this year.

Maneh al-Daen was found guilty of stabbing to death a fellow tribesman, Nasher al-Daen, the ministry said in a statement carried by the official SPA news agency.
