Hariri via Twitter: Endeavors to Involve Army in Outside Battles will Fail

Al-Mustaqbal Movement chief Saad Hariri emphasized on Thursday that Hizbullah's attempts to involve the army in foreign battles based on a preset date and location will not be successful.

“We will not stand still and watch the viscous attempts to involve the Lebanese army in battles that have been pre-determined in time and place by Hizbullah,” said Hariri via twitter.

The former PM inquired about Hizbullah's involvement in Syria's war asking: “Who authorized them to violate the borders with weapons and gunmen and drag terrorism to Lebanon's territories?”

Hariri's comments came in reference to the latest battles in the mountainous al-Qalamoun region across the eastern Lebanese border, where militants from the Islamic State group and the al-Qaida-affiliated al-Nusra Front engage in fierce battles with Hizbullah and the Syrian army.

The Lebanese army frequently clashes with the militants in their hideouts near the Syrian border, but refuses to get involved in battles on Syrian territories.

On Thursday, the Lebanese army targeted militant positions and their movement on the outskirts of the northeastern border town of Arsal, and gunmen on the outskirts of northeastern border village of Ras Baalbek in the Bekaa.

Observers fear that jihadists linked to al-Nusra Front would overrun Arsal if Hizbullah, the Syrian army and the Islamic State group clamped down on it in the Qalamoun battle.

Hariri addressed families of Arsal and said: “You are the real grantor for Lebanon in the face of terrorism and in the face of sedition. The voices threatening Arsal with doom and destruction will not achieve their goals no matter what.”

He concluded by saying: “Before they say anything about Arsal, let them ask themselves what they are doing in al-Qalamoun.”

The Qalamoun region straddles the Syria-Lebanon border and was a stronghold of rebel forces until a major operation by Syrian regime troops backed by Hizbullah fighters last year.

Hizbullah fighters backed by the Syrian Army have lately taken control of new militant positions on the outskirts of al-Qalamoun.

Hizbullah has been fighting alongside Assad's forces against predominantly Sunni rebels and militants seeking to topple him.

@sab3a-ayar, the question better be: who replaced the Syrian oppressor and became even worse? Who is Israelized like the Israelis were Nazified before but Hezbollah? You talk of liberation? Talk to me of oppressor replacement before calling people idiots.

Hezbullah is the only government Lebanon has, and so it has to observe at least some of the rules: like letting fools talk so they can prove to everybody that they are fools. But why doesn't Hezbullah push to overturn Article 24 so that majority rule and stability can come?

Thumb -phoenix1 21 May 2015, 20:29

@chrisrushlau, who is the fool but the one that still clings to dreams? Who is the fool but the one who cannot read before shouting? Yalla, let the majority rule, by definition that's not Hezbollah, sabi?

If my memory serves me right, I was watching a year or so a talkshow over a foreign TV station whereby a political analyst when asked about the next Israeli war on Hezbollah. His reply was, "what Israel declares in public is different from what it doesn't declare". He extrapolated further that reading between the lines, he believed that no one needed to destroy nor trim down Hezbollah, that Hezbollah was doing the job for itself in its venture in Syria. Now that it's also involved in Yemen, one could now understand what this pundit was alluding to. The fact that Hezbollah has been for a while trying to get the LAF involved in the war against IS and Al Nusra inside Syrian territory means a bad omen for Hezbollah. The habit though is not new to HA, but the turning point looks imminent now if not ominous.

oh phoenix, wishing so bad that HA will be no more, even to the point where you are even predicting it may be imminent.

City my dear city, like every good M8er you cannot but focus on the people posting instead of the post, this on its merit renders your argument imminently lame.

Israel has always treated all kind of injured people, including Hamas. By believing in conspiracies (brainwashing) You are proving nothing.

Thumb Mystic 21 May 2015, 16:36

Hariri with real words is, that if the LAF attacks Nusra and ISIS then they are going against the whole muslim sunni community. Now that is the Hariris excuse.

Thumb Mystic 21 May 2015, 17:25

LAF can't do nothing while we have you cowards supporting the takfiri scourge spreading into Lebanon. Arsal will be purified, with or without the LAF, takfiris are getting desperate. T

Mark those words, wahabi.patriot.
