The Russian military said Tuesday it fended off a Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow that prompted authorities to briefly close one of the city's airports.

The attack, which follows previous similar raids on the Russian capital during the previous months, comes after a mutiny launched by mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin, which saw his Wagner troops approach Moscow in the biggest challenge to Russian President Vladimir Putin in more than two decades of his rule.

Tesla sales jump 83% from a year ago as tax credits, broader adoption drive sales

Tesla's second-quarter deliveries rose 83% from a year ago after the company cut prices several times on its four electric vehicle models and buyers took advantage of U.S. government tax credits.

The Austin, Texas, producer of EV, solar panels and batteries said Sunday that it sold a record 466,140 vehicles worldwide from April through June, nearly doubling the 254,695 it sold during the same period a year earlier. The vast majority of the sales were Tesla's popular Model 3 and Model Y versions.

US Treasury Secretary to make long-awaited trip to China this week

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will travel to Beijing Thursday as part of an ongoing Biden administration effort to thaw U.S.-China relations, a senior Treasury official said Sunday.

Yellen, who has called the notion of an economic decoupling from China "disastrous," has frequently said in the past year that she would like to visit China. She says the two nations "can and need to find a way to live together" in spite of their strained relations over geopolitics and economic development. Yellen will meet this week with Chinese officials, U.S. companies doing business in China and with Chinese people and will stay through July 9, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss details of the trip.

Hannibal Gadhafi taken to hospital for third time

A son of late Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi was taken to hospital for the third time after his health deteriorated due to a hunger strike to protest his detention without trial in Beirut, Dubai-based Al-Hadath TV said.

Al-Hadath said Gadhafi was in "critical condition" after he suffered a sharp drop in his blood sugar level. He was taken to Beirut’s Hotel-Dieu de France hospital on Sunday.

Israel to buy more F-35 fighter jets from US

Israel will buy 25 F-35 aircraft from the United States, the Israeli Defense Ministry has announced, in a deal that increases Israel's arsenal of the stealth fighter jets by 50%.

The F-35 is the world's most advanced fighter jet, and Israel is the only country in the Middle East to fly them. The $3 billion purchase, which increases the Israeli fleet of F-35 jets from 50 to 75, is set to be finalized in the coming months, the ministry said.
