Deputy U.S. Envoy for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus who is due to visit Lebanon next month will carry with her a list of U.S. conditions for Israel's complete withdrawal from south Lebanon and a halt of its attacks on the country, pro-Hezbollah al-Akhbar newspaper reported.

The daily said Wednesday that it has learned from prominent political sources that the U.S. has informed Lebanese officials that Ortagus will pressure Lebanon to consider joining peace accords with Israel as a pre-condition for a complete implementation of a ceasefire reached in late November.

The Lebanese state has been told by influential countries, topped by the United States, that there are security “guarantees” for carrying out the municipal and mayoral elections in south Lebanon on Saturday, despite the daily Israeli attacks that the South is witnessing, the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper reported on Wednesday.

President Joseph Aoun and his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas said Wednesday that weapons should be under Lebanese state control, meeting in Baabda to discuss disarming Palestinian refugee camps in the country among other issues.

A joint statement released by the Lebanese presidency said the two leaders share the "belief that the era of weapons outside Lebanese state control has ended," adding that both had expressed commitment to the principle that arms should be exclusively "in the hands of the Lebanese state."

Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri seemed to be satisfied with the results of the municipal elections in the capital Beirut in an interview with local news portal al-Modon.

"We have secured parity in a way that is no longer acceptable to call Amal and Hezbollah a Shiite Duo but a National Duo," Berri told al-Modon in remarks published Tuesday.

An Israeli drone targeted on Tuesday morning a motorcycle in south Lebanon near a school in Mansouri in the Tyre district, injuring nine people, three of them critically.

The Health Ministry said nine people were injured in the strike on the al-Mansouri-Majdal Zoun road, including two children, adding that three of the injured were in critical condition.
