Harb: Electing Aoun Will Drive Lebanon to Negativity

Telecommunications Minister Butros Harb said on Saturday that it is not in al-Mustaqbal Movement ex-PM Saad Hariri's interest to nominate MP Michel Aoun for the presidency, as he pointed out that it would lead the country to “negativity.”

“The country will arrive at a lot of negativity shall Aoun (founder of the Free Patriotic Movement) become a president,” said Harb to the VDL (100.5) in an interview.

ISF Arrest Drug Dealer in Nahr el-Mot

The Internal Security Forces arrested a man in the Nahr el-Mot area near Beirut, for the possession of drugs and for allegedly planning to smuggle them into a juvenile prison, an ISF statement said on Saturday.

“On Friday 29/9/2016 a police patrol in Mount Lebanon busted Lebanese Aa.M., 1995, who was caught with amounts of hashish, two envelopes of Salvia divinorum, one envelope of cocaine, a Samsung mobile, Nokia mobile, LL 2,440,000 and $1600,” an ISF statement said on Saturday.

Report: Hariri to Kick Off Trip to Ankara, Russia and Saudi Arabia

Judge Saqr Charges Four for Terror Acts

Military Prosecutor Judge Saqr Saqr charged four detainees with belonging to an armed terror groups for the purpose of carrying out terror operations, the National News Agency reported on Monday.

Saqr charged the four detainees, including two Lebanese and two Syrians, with entering into the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain el-Hilweh in Sidon and preparing terror attacks, NNA added.

Ibrahim: Looking for 'Serious' Mediator to Negotiate Release of Abducted Servicemen

General Security chief Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim said on Friday that efforts continue to find a “serious” mediator to negotiate the release of servicemen abducted in 2014 by the Islamic State group, the National News Agency reported.

“We are looking for a serious mediator to negotiate the file of the servicemen abducted by the IS,” said Ibrahim during a trip to West Bekaa.
