Al-Mustaqbal bloc leader Fouad Saniora slammed on Friday Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour for “violating the constitution” in calling the Arab League to scrap a decision to suspend Syria's membership without coordinating with the president and the prime minister.
Saniora expressed “surprise” at Mansour's call during the Arab foreign ministers meeting in Cairo on Wednesday, saying he neglected the stance of President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister Najib Miqati “in a totally unconstitutional way.”

Head of the Mustaqbal bloc MP Fouad Saniora and Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea stressed on Wednesday the need to hold the parliamentary elections on time, announced the LF in a statement Thursday.
It said that the two officials agreed that the “best electoral law at the moment is a hybrid law” that combines the winner-takes-all and proportional representation systems.

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc head MP Fouad Saniora stated on Saturday his rejection of all appearances of gunmen in the southern city of Sidon, condemning blocking roads and “threatening people's movements”.
“We are against all appearances of gunmen in the city,” Saniora stressed in a speech he gave at Rafik Hariri High School during the commemoration of Sidon's liberation from Israeli occupation, insisting that judicial and security authorities are the “only bodies in charge of assuring security and of restoring people's rights”.

Al-Mustaqbal bloc leader Fouad Saniora has informed President Michel Suleiman that the March 14 opposition alliance is preparing a study on ways to protect the border with Syria.
Sources close to Saniora said the MP stressed to Suleiman that “the security situation on the border with Syria requires urgent action to control it by deploying the army” to avoid the spread of the security tension to other areas.

Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat adopted on Tuesday the electoral draft-law proposed by the government as he revealed that his party is carrying out negotiations with al-Mustaqbal Movement to reach common ground over the matter.
“We are carrying out discussions based on the electoral draft-law proposed by the cabinet and we might reach an agreement between the March 8 and 14 coalitions over the matter after modifying it,” Jumblat said in comments published in As Safir newspaper.

British Foreign Secretary William Hague urged on Thursday for consensus among rival lawmakers on an electoral draft-law and welcomed Lebanon's commitment to cooperate with Bulgarian authorities on the probe into a deadly attack on Israeli tourists last year.
“In these difficult times, it is important that political forces in Lebanon come together in a spirit of dialogue and consensus to agree a process that respects the constitutional timetable for this year's elections,” Hague said after talks with President Michel Suleiman at Baabda palace.
