The different factions of the March 14 opposition alliance held a series of meetings on Monday to join forces in proposing a draft-electoral law that satisfies all parties, An Nahar daily reported.

President Michel Suleiman's national defense strategy proposal allows Hizbullah to keep its weapons but place them under the command of the Lebanese army, a vision that has drawn the criticism of the March 14 opposition alliance, media reports said Friday.
The arms of the resistance would be used by the state until the army is well equipped to take over all defense responsibilities, Suleiman told rival Lebanese leaders during a national dialogue session held at Baabda Palace on Thursday.

Al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc leader Fouad al-Saniora urged the Lebanese people to unite against continuous Israeli violations of Lebanon's sovereignty, which is now being violated by Syria, welcoming the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to Lebanon.
“The souls of our citizens are being violated by Israel and today by the Syrian regime,” Saniora told reporters after meeting with Maronite Patriarch Beshara al-Rahi in Bkirki.
Head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea noted on Friday that the greatest progress in the Palestinian cause could have been achieved during the Arab Spring.
He said during a workshop on "Lebanon's role in the renaissance of the new Arab world": “The other camp is using the Palestinian cause to suit their interests.”
Cabinet postponed to Thursday discussions on the new wage scale due to the emergence of differences between Prime Minister Najib Miqati and Change and Reform ministers.
Miqati had requested at the meeting that the funding of the new scale be derived from increased taxes on construction and other sources.

The head of the Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc MP Fouad Saniora handed on Tuesday President Michel Suleiman a March 14 memo that reiterates the opposition’s call for the expulsion of Syrian Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Abdul Karim Ali and the control of the Lebanese border with Syria through U.N. help.
The memorandum also called for the formation of a national salvation government and filing a complaint to the Arab League over Syria’s repeated border violations.

The March 14 alliance is preparing a memorandum to hand over to President Michel Suleiman over Syria’s repeated violations against Lebanon, An Nahar newspaper reported on Friday.
According to the daily, the memo will address the case of ex-Minister Michel Samaha, who was accused along with head of the Syrian National Security Bureau Ali Mamlouk and a Syrian officer identified as Brig. Gen. Adnan of plotting to assassinate political and religious figures in Lebanon and carry out terrorist attacks.

Al-Mustaqbal movement rejects violence and gives its political backing to the army to thwart any attempt to create instability, al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc leader Fouad Saniora told personalities in the northern city of Tripoli.
Saniora, who returned from a vacation abroad, held a series of phone conversations with Premier Najib Miqati, Tripoli lawmakers and Mufti Sheikh Malek al-Shaar, his sources told An Nahar on Saturday.

A national dialogue session held at Beiteddine palace on Thursday was marred by a dispute between al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc leader Fouad Saniora and Hizbullah MP Mohammed Raad on the party’s arsenal.
During the session, Saniora said illegitimate weapons were responsible for the series of abductions of Syrians and allegedly a Turkish national by al-Meqdad clan to demand the release of Hassan al-Meqdad, who was kidnapped by Free Syrian Army members in Syria earlier this week.
