A mortar shell was fired overnight in the direction of the French embassy in Yemen, while a car bomb exploded meters away in Sanaa's diplomatic quarter, a police source said Monday.

"The two attacks happened after midnight. There were no victims," the source said.

A 53-year-old man and 15-year-old boy died Sunday when their ultra-light plane crashed into a field in western France, firefighters said.

The plane was in flight near Morlaix airfield when it crashed for unknown reasons.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius assured on Saturday that an international conference will take place in Paris in March to help Lebanon deal with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.
